Natural, all handmde, large tree slabs wall art created out of cross cut larch tree trunk. With its smooth surface and clear exposion of rings drawing, this tree rounds wall decor which will take your love of wood to another level. The circular thin discs of wood were gathered together forming a cosy and warm piece of wooden wall. Although we try to bring nature into interiors in its most raw form, yet the slabs edges were gently shaped to stick to each other even better. The effect - a coherent composition making it both modern-and-reclaimed looking decoration. The clearly visible ring patterns are an excellent opportunity to relax and contemplate the artwork of nature framed into a modern design.

The shown artwork is a previously sold one. We will custom make similar panels of this design. We can customize the dimensions, format, color (natural or burn wood), and even used spices of tree. Each artwork will be absolutely unique and never exactly the same as shown on pictures.
The slices of wood are stuck to the dark gray (or customized color) painted plywood with strong glue which give this wall hanging an aesthetic outlook. All panels come with tooth hangers attached on the back for quick and easy mounting on a wall.

The process of creation the wooden artwork.
The whole process of making this unique wooden wall art takes much time. Although this process is a lot of fun, a lot of hard work is also done. But the effects are truly rewarding… Starting from claiming the tree to the final finishing, each piece passes through our hands several times. It has to be treated individually with due care and attention to fully bring out its natural beauty and to not interfere with its natural character. We start from finding and buying the tree from state or private forest (larch tree is not very common), then we air dry it for a period of 6 up to 24 (!) months. Afterwards we kiln dry the wood to eliminate insects that lives inside. Then the tree is cleaned, cross cut, shaped (with simple tools), smoothed and sanded. Only now is the time to create an artwork - laying down the mosaic of slices according to the ealier design. Although Shou Sugi Ban technique is great to preserve wood, we still each piece is impregnated each piece with an organic oil to prevent them from further cracking and color changing.

Our eco approach
We stick to our environmentally friendly approach throughout the entire manufacturing process. We try to utilize the pieces of wood as much as we can. Cut-offs from large wood pieces are used to make smaller forms and decorations. Wood chips provide our workshop with heat. Sawdust goes to a composting facility to prepare fertile ground for other trees and plants.
In order to keep its naturalness and freshness, wood demands the best preparations. Caring for the environment and your comfort, we impregnate our furniture and protect each piece against dust and dirt using organic oils and waxes only. We work with sellected British Fiddes & Son, German Livos and Finnish Tikkurila oils which are based on natural components: linseed oil, waxes, resin and wood oils. The composition of these is either 100 % organic or contains trace amounts of solvents. These oils don’t cover the wood with a chemical skin. Organic oils and waxes enhance the beauty of the wood and protect it very well. And, what is most important: organically impregnated wood does not lose any of its freshness or naturalness!
